I've always loved the way a painting freezes a moment in time, more so than a photograph .. Anyway, a professor suggested I work on my paintings when they are up-side down, so I wouldn't concentrate so much on the illustrative aspect of the composition. I tried this, and like to think my paintings make decent abstract compositions in any orientation.
