Time To Say Goodbye (with Andrea Bocelli) - Sarah Brightman, 1997
Quando sono solo Time to say goodbye Quando sei lontana Time to say goodbye (Dedicated to Luella Jessie Fisher, 1925 - 2008) Sarah Brightman was carefully groomed for a career in music and dance. Born in Berkhamsted, England, she took ballet lessons at the age of 3. At 11, she attended the Arts Educational boarding school for jazz and acting. Although she was rejected by London's Royal Ballet at age 16, Sarah moved on to more contemporary forms of the arts. She danced in troops such as Pan's People and Hot Gossip. Disco had also grabbed Sarah's attention at that time, and she released I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper in 1978. By the time Sarah brightman recorded Time to Say Goodbye with opera great, Andrea Bocelli, she was already an international star, having sung the official song of the 1992 Olympics, not to mention the release of several eclectic albums, including Dive. Her cross-over pop/opera style was a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic, and, as far as I know, Time to Say Goodbye is one of the few opera songs to climb the pop charts. This was one of my mother's favourite songs, and it will always remind me of her. As I write this, there are tears in my eyes, literally... so Mom - this is for you. |
