Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order, 1986

Every time I think of you
I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue
It's no problem of mine but it's a problem I find
Living a life that I can't leave behind
There's no sense in telling me
The wisdom of a fool won't set you free
But that's the way that it goes
And it's what nobody knows
While every day my confusion grows

Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say

I feel fine and I feel good
I'm feeling like I never should
Whenever I get this way
I just don't know what to say
Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday

I'm not sure what this could mean
I don't think you're what you seem
I do admit to myself
That if I hurt someone else
Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be

Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say
(repeat 4x)

The members of Joy Division had a pact to disband the group, should one of the members leave. In tragic fashion, vocalist Ian Curtis left the group in 1980, by committing suicide. The remaining three members felt they had a lot of music left, so Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Bernard Sumner re-formed as New Order.

The origin of the name Joy Division is from the 1955 novel The House of Dolls. In this book, women were forced to work as prostitutes in Nazi concentration camps. Following in that vein, New Order was taken from Hitler's book, Mein Kampf: "the new order of the Third Reich". The band has no fascist or Nazi sympathies, they really thought the names would have no negative connotations

New Order bridged New Wave styles with Alternative Dance and House music. They released singles like Blue Monday, The Perfect Kiss and Bizarre Love Triangle that were charted on the alternative and dance charts. Love Triangle has had some stamina as a club song, being covered by alternative bands such as Even As We Speak, Manitu, Devine and Statton, South, Rookie of the Year, Apoptygma Berzerk, Charlotte Martin and Stabbing Westward. Naw - I don't know who most of these acts are, either...
