Chicks 'n Cars (And The Third World War) - Colin James, 1988

Well get out of my way, I'm a leaving this town
I said get out of my way, I'm a leaving this town
I feel danger, trouble all around

I got to have my girl, and a bottle of wine
Ya I got to grab my girl, and a bottle of wine
I got to hit the road
Doing ninety-nine, ah ya yeah

Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
There's only three things worth of living for and that's
Chicks, cars and the third world war

Let's roll!

Well get out of my way, I'm a leaving this town
I said get out of my way, there's something bad coming down
I feel danger, trouble all around

Hey hey ya little girl, we're stepping out tonight
Hey hey hey little girl, we're stepping out tonight
I got to love you once
We better do it right...
(Do it right, do it right, do it right) Do it right, out of sight

Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
There's only three things worth of living for and that's
Chicks, cars and the third world war

Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
There's only three things worth of dying for and that's

Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
Chicks, cars and the third world war
There's only three things worth of dying for and that's
Chicks, cars and the third world war

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, "Little Colin" was a natural on the stage. He was a part of the local Folk music scene, adding his mandolin and guitar to any act that would invite him on stage. Colin was a big part of the community, teaching guitar on a local Aboriginal reserve. When his step-father introduced him to the Texas Blues, Colin James was hooked. He left school in grade 10, and moved to Saskatoon. It was there that Colin and his band, The HooDoo Men opened for a touring Stevie Ray Vaughan. Vaughan was impressed enough to invite him on his US tour as an opening act.

Colin James has since been a mainstay of Canadian Blues/Rock, producing such memorable hits as Five Long Years, Voodoo Thing, Just Came Back and Why'd You Lie, and winning 6 Juno awards. From the first time I heard Chicks 'n Cars (And The Third World War), I loved the song. The late 80s were a strange time; prosperity and Regan-era greed mixed with a very real threat of global destruction from a US/USSR conflict. It wasn't until the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, that we could breath a sigh of relief.

Today, I guess it's just chicks 'n cars...
