The guide
This is one of my more recent works, completed in January, 1999. I made it as a birthday present for my Grandmother who turned 100 on February 2, 1999.
GranHattie passed away January 13, 2001. She would have been 102 years old in a few weeks time and we are all saddened by her passing. Click here to see the dedication on my brother's site
She spent most of her life in Banff, Alberta, and I had a job in the early 80s as a tour leader that, at times, saw me touring people around the Rockies and I used to introduce the whole group to her.
Mt. Rundle is in Banff National Park within clear view of the Banff township, and I used my Grandmother's book, written in 1945, for reference as to how high the mountain is. Her book is From Barnacle to Banff. Read about that book here.
Click here for a picture of my Grandmother with the sculpture (my Dad is in the picture as well, although she is not his Mom but his mother-in-law)
On June 9, 2000, my brother Peter sent me this note along with three pictures of an original copy of From Barnacle to Banff. Go here.
